A Pet in the Crowd: How to brave the crowds with your pet this holiday season
As the end of the year approaches, we all know what that means. Christmas party season! Here at Super Pets Club, we’re gearing up for some special holiday festivities for you and your whole pet family. But if you’re a pet parent who’s nervous about visiting the mall with larger crowds, we have some tips to make your experience stress-free!
Pay attention to your pet’s nerves
Does your dog shake when they get nervous? Does your cat meow more when they’re scared? If you’re out in a crowd, check in with your pet regularly. They might be trying to tell you that they’re feeling anxious!
Pack water and other essentials
Don’t forget to keep your pet hydrated! If you’re going to be out during your pet’s scheduled meal times, bring along their food and their bowl with you too.
Take a walk before
If you have a dog that has tons of energy, it’s a smart idea to tire them out a bit before going to a crowded place. A tired dog is usually one that’s quicker to follow directions too!
Clean up after your pet and check the venue’s rules
Most malls require that your pet be in a carrier or wear a diaper. Even if the best-trained pets have to respect the rules.
Start off slow
If this is your pet’s first time in a crowd, have them meet a few people first. If they’re doing well, you can reward them with a treat and gradually introduce them to more people.
Be sensitive to other people’s reactions
Not everyone in a crowded place may be comfortable with pets. Before your pet approaches other people (or other pets), make sure to ask first!
Always be ready
In case of an emergency, be prepared if your pet needs to go or leave the crowded area quickly! Being vigilant is part of being a pet parent.
