How to spot a pet parent

Have you ever tried to spot a true pet parent in a crowd? It’s easier than you might think! From their playful pet voices to the inevitable fur on their clothes, dedicated pet owners have some charming quirks that give them away.

Some say that you can tell if someone's a dog-person versus a cat-person, but can you spot a pet-person? Even though pet parents come from all backgrounds and ages, we believe there are a few trademark signs that you have a special pet in your life.

  1. Your voice has a different pitch for your pet.  If people have a baby voice for their toddlers, pet parents definitely have a pet voice for their cats and dogs. “No, my dog’s name is not Lucky. It’s Luckyyyyyyyyyy (add three pitches higher).”

  1. Your personal space is your pet’s personal space.  Your socks are your pet’s socks. Your bed is your pet’s bed. Seeing their pet’s fur on their clothes becomes a regular accessory for most pet parents.

  1. Your phone memory gets eaten up by all your pet photos.  Plus pet-parent points if you’ve ever had to buy more storage to fit more sleeping pet pics in your camera roll. Another shoutout goes to the pet parents who are only active on social media for their pets’ profiles!

  1. You’ll always ask your friends if they want to look at your pet.  “Yes, my cat is sleeping, but isn’t she the cutest thing you’ve ever seen?!”

  1. You’re an expert at handling your pet’s poop  Besides your pet, who else would you be willing to clean up poop for? Aside from a regular stash of poop bags, pet parents are also used to worrying about the consistency of their pet’s bowels and having regular conversations with their vets about their pet’s poop!

  1. You have a budget specifically for your pet

One thing that most pet parents can agree on––having a pet gets expensive! From toys and food to grooming and vet bills, being a responsible pet parent requires smart budgeting.

  1. Your happiness is your pet’s happiness

Do you know what’s the most important thing that all dedicated and certified pet parents have in common? Their love for their pets. Taking care of an animal isn’t easy but every pet parent in the world will vouch for the fact that it’s worth it!
