In 2023, The American Kennel Club ranked the Bichon Frise as the 44th most popular dog breed in the United States! 

• … was once a circus dog? 

During the French revolution, many bichon owners were imprisoned––leaving several dogs to wander on their own. Street entertainers then trained these bichons to perform tricks, and they later became circus performers around France! 

• … originates from Spain? 

While most think Bichons are French dogs, they actually have Spanish roots. Spanish sailors traded this breed to areas in Tenerife and Paris, where it became a royal favorite!
