New Year’s Resolutions for Pet Parents

No matter how many years pass, it’s always tempting to make the vow, “New year, new me!” January comes with a list of resolutions to go to the gym more, cut down on fast food, devote time to a hobby. While we’re committing to bettering ourselves, we shouldn’t forget our pet parenting duties too.

In our last article before the New Year, we’re sharing our top pet parent resolutions for 2024!

  1. Visit the vet for an annual checkup

Start the year on a good note with a visit to the vet! Even if your pet appears completely normal, getting their tests and blood work done can address any issues early and save a ton of money later on.

  1. Brush your pet’s teeth daily

Vets report that the majority of dogs and cats suffer from dental disease. With this in mind, a great resolution is making your pet’s dental health a top priority. Commit to a regular brushing schedule and check with your vet if your pet needs professional teeth cleaning.

  1. Bring them to the groomer’s

Regular grooming doesn’t just add to your pet’s cuteness value (although, it does!), it also keeps your pet’s coat and fur healthy. Having your pet’s nails trimmed can also prevent future accidents and possible joint pain.

  1. Learn new tricks

Despite what others say, it is possible to teach an old dog new tricks! If you’re like us that watches videos of dogs doing amazing things online, why not try teaching your own pets simple tricks this new year? If you want to work your pet’s brains, you can also try toys like these puzzles from Pet Express

  1. Make time for exercise

Fun fact: most dogs and cats need around 30 minutes of exercise a day. This 2024, why not commit to taking more walks or inserting play time for you and your pet? If you’re looking for more fun things to do with your pet, go check out a Paw Park at a SM mall near you. We also have a ton of exciting events coming up for our Super Pets Club family!

  1. Invest in pet insurance

Who else lists “save more money” as a resolution every year? *raises hand in guilt*

To cover inevitable medical expenses that come with pet parenting, pet insurance is a great way to save. You can read more on the BDO Pet Insurance plan in our previous article here
