Why should you date a pet parent?
Backed by this research and in honor of Valentine’s Day, we’re here to make a case on why it’s great to date a pet parent!
Does owning a pet make you more attractive? Research over the years might suggest… yes! One study found that pictures of people with pets were rated as happier and more approachable. In another experiment, male volunteers were more successful at getting phone numbers when they were accompanied by a dog.
So backed by this research and in honor of Valentine’s Day, we’re here to make a case on why it’s great to date a pet parent!
Pet parents are open to commitment
When a person decides to get a pet, that’s saying yes to a years-long commitment. If a person is willing to care for a dog or cat for decades, then they’re probably more willing to commit to a long-term relationship.
Pet parents think outside of themselves
A devoted pet parent can’t afford to be selfish. From making sure a pet gets fed, is trained, sees the vet, pet parents are used to thinking of another’s needs. If your potential significant other is already devoted to their pet, imagine how much caring they’ll be to the person they’re in a relationship with.
Patience is key to pet parenting
If a person has gone through training and housebreaking a pet, they’re probably a very patient and forgiving person. If a pet parent is used to cleaning up after their dog or cat, they’ll probably be willing to work through issues that come up in a relationship.
Life with a pet parent is fun!
Part of caring for a pet is keeping them active and entertained. Dating a pet parent means you’re more likely to be with someone who’s active and also doesn’t take themselves seriously. Having a pet also opens you to so many exciting events and communities! Dates could be going on pet fun runs, pet expo events, adoption events.
